Should you paint pantry/closet doors?

While I’m working on organizing the kids’ stuff, I got sidetracked by our pantry. The standard white bifold door is starting to bore me. I love pops of color throughout the house. I don’t know if I’ll ever paint our walls anything outside of white, because I’m unable to pick a color and be confident I can stick with it for a while. So, instead, I use white as our canvas, and I just put color everywhere else. I’m still trying to decide if we should go with white subway tiles for the backsplash in the kitchen or a turquoise-like color. Because I’m so indecisive when it comes to these things, I like to change up the stuff that’s easy to do/change if I end up not liking it! Plus, I think my husband is starting to get burned out on teal/aqua/turquoise, so that’s a project for a different weekend.

Here’s the pantry door & the shade I’m thinking about using.

I’ve been thinking about maybe replacing it with a glass-paneled door, but painting it might make things bright enough. I was originally going to paint it with chalkboard paint, but the way the pantry is sort of off to the side of the kitchen, it didn’t seem like it would go well.

I don’t know about any of you guys, but I always grew up seeing doors with just the standard white/wood-stained look! So I don’t know it’s going to turn out…

What I find beneficial is that I wait a little while before making a permanent decision, especially if I’ve got another project already underway, like you do with organizing your kids stuff. I’d probably wait until the kids stuff is decluttered/organized and then tackle that pantry door. I like the turquoise!

I know you’re right, so I’ve been trying to stay focused on organizing the kids’ stuff! Advice like this is why you’re the professional organizer and I’m not!! 🤣
